

John Legasey is a practicing attorney and founder of the Salem firm of DiGangi & Legasey, PC. in 1998. That firm is now Legasey & Niarchos, P.C.
He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Massachusetts (1968) and served in the Peace Corps in Libya prior to entering law school (1968-1969).
He received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1975. John is a former president of the Salem Bar Association and has served on the
executive committee of the Essex Bar Association. He has served as a member of the board of managers of the Massachusetts chapter of the American Academy
of Matrimonial Lawyers and as a member of the family law council of the Massachusetts Bar Association. John concentrates his practice in family law.
He sits on the Curriculum Committee for domestic relations for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Foundation, and he lectures for MCLE on
a range of topics in the domestic relations area. John is frequently appointed by the Probate and Family Court to serve as a conciliator for
divorcing couples and their lawyers, helping them come to a fair and reasonable conclusion of their case. He sits as a hearing judge for the
Board of Bar overseers, and is a skilled trial lawyer.
John is divorced, remarried, and has five children, ranging in age from fourteen to twenty-five. As an experienced parent, he is
attentive to the needs of children of a broken home, and strives to incorporate solutions to those needs in his work.
